Our 8th grade bridge contest is a highlight of Winterfest, our yearly celebration of science and math. In the weeks leading up to Winterfest, 8th graders design bridges out of thin strands of wood, using principles of architecture and engineering. On the day of the contest they take turns in front of the whole school stress-testing their bridges. The winner is the bridge that withstands the greatest number of bricks without collapsing. The record so far has been 11 bricks.
