The “disc” is as familiar to our students as a backpack or laptop. When it comes to the sport of ultimate, Northwest is a juggernaut. In 2014, both NWS Boys’ and Girls' Ultimate Teams captured Western High School Regional titles as well as Washington State Championships. That same summer, several members of the Northwest School community represented the United States in Lecco, Italy, at the highest level of competitive ultimate in the world. On the men’s team at the World Junior Ultimate Championship were Sam Cook ’15, Sam Lehman ’14, and Alex Olson ’14, and the head coach was Chase Sparling-Beckley ’00. On the women’s team was Mia Bladin ’14, who was also featured in the summer 2014 issue of USA Ultimate magazine.
