"Everything smells yummy and its gentle on my skin. It's easy to make and the best part is it all comes from nature so it doesn't hurt anything to get the ingredients" - Past Nature Spa student

Enrichment Programs

Our Enrichment Programming is meant for our middle school students. However, upper school students are welcomed to register as well. Please contact Leilani Nussman, Extended Learning Director, if you have any questions.

We are excited to offer the following enrichment class for Winter 2019:

Students are invited to learn a skill they will use for a lifetime and a hobby they will forever enjoy – Sewing! Start with a simple guided project, and then advance at your own pace to more exciting and self-directed designs.

Join us to dive into the world of coding! Begin with the core concepts behind programming, such as variables, loops, conditionals and methods. Then, use your coding skills and creativity to solve a real-world problem using open source software. Over the course of 8 weeks, students will work with a Pacific Science Center educator to learn why coding is one of the most important skills for the future!

Dungeon School

Thursdays, 3:45 - 5:00. $250 for 8 weeks January 17 - March 14. No class Feb 21.

A writing class disguised as a game, Dungeon School uses cooperative storytelling to draw out students' creative potential. This class used play-based incentives to inspire even those who think they can't, to write. Develop your character, place them in a world, and go on adventures in Dungeons and Dragons style.

You will bring home your handmade goods in containers you design themselves. You will also receive the recipes for your creations so you can make more products and share what you’ve learned with others. Come experience the fun and excitement of DIY self-care!

After School Program

The Northwest School offers an after school program for our Middle School students. It is a supervised setting for students who need to be at school up until 6:00 pm, each school day.

The program is held in the school library, starting daily at 3:30 pm, and provides a quiet space to work on homework and get some organizational assistance. While not tutoring per se, sometimes extra help getting backpacks in order and keeping track of assignments is a welcome boost. A small snack will be provided daily for the students. Any student participating in the program must be in the library by 4:00 pm, and must be picked up by 6:00 pm. The fee is $15 per day. Any pick-up after 6:00 PM will be assessed an additional charge of $1 a minute. Charges will be reflected on your monthly statement (available via My Backpack).

If you are a family on financial aid, please refer to The Northwest Experience Fund information in regards to how fees for the after school program are covered.

We will accept drop-in students, but to better prepare, we ask that you RSVP as soon as you know you need care by emailing us at

Pick-Up from After School Care: Please note that all students in after school care must be signed out by the parent or authorized person:

  • If you are picking up after 4:30 (when the main doors close), you will need to go to the entrance just north of the main doors by the fenced-in garden.
  • Call the number for the after school program posted on the door and someone will come to let you in.

If you, as a parent/guardian, will not be picking up your child, please email us with the name of the person who is authorized for pick-up. We will not release your child unless we receive this information from you. If you need to reach the after school program between the hours of 3:00 - 6:00, please call 206-816-6126.
