Student Artwork Selected for National Exhibition

Three Northwest School ceramics students have been selected to exhibit their work at the 2019 K-12 Ceramics Exhibition, March 27-30, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Only 150 pieces are selected from thousands of submissions.

“Being juried into this exhibition is a great honor,” says Ceramics teacher Randy Silver. He describes the exhibition as the “nationals” for ceramics students. “Our three burgeoning artists deserve accolades!”

Camilo T. ‘23 created a giraffe teapot in response to a teapot building assignment; Lia C. ‘19 created a spiny orb with a metallic patina in response to a raku firing assignment; and Puja C. ‘20 created a cartoon-like red dragon baby as part of the literary sculpture assignment.

While on exhibition, the students work will be viewed by thousands of people and will be featured on posters, CDs, and in a print catalog. In addition, the winners will be eligible for awards, prizes, and scholarships.
