Girls' Cross Country Takes Fourth at State Meet

The girls’ cross country team raced to a hard-earned fourth-place finish at the State Championship Meet on Saturday, Nov. 3, in Pasco. Four runners on the squad finished in the top 50, led by senior Macenna H.’s ninth-place result.

Northwest finished with a total of 123 points, just one point behind the third-place finishers La Center. The boys’ team finished in 13th place, with two runners finishing in the top 50.

The varsity girls’ volleyball team advanced to the Bi-District Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 3, but eventually fell in three tough matches against South Whidbey High School. The girls finished the season with a 12-7 record overall.

In a proverbial “game for the ages,” our varsity boys' ultimate team gamely went toe-to-toe with No. 1 seed Nathan Hale in the State quarterfinals on Tuesday, Oct. 30. We scored at the end of regulation time, dramatically sending the game to universe point at 11-11. We had a shot at the win on the last point, but a tipped disc came down in the hands of a diving Hale player for the game winner. Even as victory was tantalizingly within reach, this was an effort of which the players should be proud.

Congratulations to all of our student-athletes and coaches on their successful seasons!
