Track and Field Runners Head to State

Five members of the Northwest School track and field team qualified for the State Meet in Cheney, Washington, on May 25-27. Tibs P. '17, Isa M. '18, Jamie C. '18, Macenna H. '19, and Grace P. '19 will represent The Northwest School after qualifying at the Bi-District Meet.

The Northwest School won four of the events at the Bi-District Meet, and will be well represented in the long distance runs. Tibs will run the 1600m and the 3200m at the State Meet. Isa will run the 800m, and will join Macenna for the 1600m and the 3200m. Jamie will hop into the blocks for the 200m and the 400m, and Grace will run the 300m hurdles.

The stellar season continues for the track and field team, who, for the first time in school history, had both the boys' and the girls' track and field crowned winners at the Emerald City League (ECL) Championship Meet, in West Seattle, on May 10.

"We won the ECL meet because of the huge effort that every single member of the team put in," says head coach Catherine Bisgnano. "Having one or even a few top competitors isn't enough to win a team title, it takes every single person on the team stepping up when it counts."
