Runners Crowned State Champions

The Northwest School track and field team closed out a stellar season, highlighted by two runners racing to the championship at the State Meet, on May 25 and May 27, in Cheney, Washington. Tibs P. '17 won the 3200m for the second-consecutive year, and Isa M. '18 won the 800m race!

Five members of the Northwest School track and field team qualified for the State Meet. Macenna H. '19 placed second in the 3200m, with her teammate Isa finishing third. Grace P. '19 finished eighth in the 300m hurdles, and Jamie C. '19 finished ninth in both the 400m and 200m.

It was the fantastic finish for the track and field team, who, for the first time in school history, had both the boys' and the girls' track and field crowned winners at the Emerald City League (ECL) Championship Meet, in West Seattle, on May 10.

"We won the ECL meet because of the huge effort that every single member of the team put in," says head coach Catherine Bisgnano. "Having one or even a few top competitors isn't enough to win a team title, it takes every single person on the team stepping up when it counts."
