Fall Sport Squads Head to Playoffs

Congratulations to all Northwest School fall athletes, many of whom are heading to the playoffs in cross country, ultimate, and soccer.

The boys’ cross country team captured the Emerald City League (ECL) championship on Friday, Oct. 25, finishing with 38 points. Eight Northwest runners finished within the top 20 overall. The girls’ finished with a strong second place at the ECL Championship Meet. Senior Greta H. was named League Champion, finishing first with a time of 20:09.39, 14 seconds quicker than the second-place runner. Both girls' and boys' teams finished in second-place at the Bi-District Tournament on Nov. 2, earning a qualification to the State Meet on Saturday, Nov. 9.

It is the ninth-consecutive year the girls' have qualified for the State Meet, and the seventh-straight year for the boys'.

Our boys’ ultimate team finished the regular season with a 9-1 record, capturing the ECL title for the second year in a row. The boys' successful playoff run came up just short of the title, falling to Cleveland High School in the state championship game on Sunday, Nov. 3.

Finally, congratulations to our girls’ soccer team on their stellar season. The season ended after losing to Bush in the postseason, 2-0, on Oct. 29.
