Andy Meyer

B.A. (English, minor in Music), Luther College; M.A., Ph.D. (English), University of Washington.

Andy grew up in the small town of Forest City in northern Iowa, amid cornfields and wind farms. He moved west to Seattle to begin graduate work, and for eight years at the University of Washington he taught courses ranging from interdisciplinary environmental writing to surveys of American literature. Andy earned his Ph.D. in 2010 with a dissertation about wilderness and literature entitled Occasions of Wildness: Literature, Simultaneity, and Habitation, under the guidance of the late Herb Blau. His poems appear in Make it True, an anthology of poetry from the Cascadia bioregion, published in 2015. Along with poetry and writing, he nurtures numerous extra-curricular activities, including guitar-playing, photography, hiking, canoeing, and karaoke. Andy recently received a Fulbright award and was a Fulbright Roving Scholar in American Studies in Norway.
