Anshu holds a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College, and a master’s degree from Harvard University Graduate School of Education, where she specialized in social justice education, adolescence, school development, qualitative research, and reform. She is a co‐founder of CARLE (Critical Analysis of Race in Learning and Education), which is both an annual summer institute for white independent school educators, and a consultancy that works with multiracial organizations. Anshu most recently served as the Director of Diversity and Community at the Bank Street School for Children in New York City, a progressive N‐8 independent school affiliated with Bank Street College of Education. Says Anshu, “As a Seattle native, I have a long standing appreciation for Northwest’s reputation as a place where intellectual rigor and a social justice imperative go hand‐in‐hand.”

Anshu, along with colleagues from CARLE, presented a full-day seminar at the National Association of Independent Schools’ annual People of Color Conference in November 2017. Titled “Ally is a Verb,” the program explored the role of white educators in independent schools and how they can better support racial equity and justice initiatives there.
