Daniel Sparler

B.A. (Spanish) Phi Beta Kappa, University of Arkansas; B.A. Ed. Summa Cum Laude, Eastern Washington University; Kansai University of Foreign Studies, Osaka, Japan (diploma); M.I.T., Center of Modern Languages at the University of Granada, Spain.

Daniel was a journalist for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer before becoming a teacher at The Northwest School over 20 years ago. When he is not teaching, Daniel loves to travel and cook vegan cuisine (as he says, “I learned the hard way as a teenage vegan pioneer in Arkansas in the 1970s.”). Daniel also collects and grows ornamental and edible plants at his house. His prolific garden has been featured in national publications and on HGTV. He has served on the board of directors for the Northwest Horticultural Society (NHS) and now teaches an annual course in Botanical Latin for members of the society.
