​Harumi LaDuke

B.A. (English Literature and Creative Writing, Music), Dartmouth College; Royal College of Music, London, UK.

Before teaching at Northwest, Harumi was the Director of the Junior Division at the Seattle Conservatory of Music, where she also taught courses in music history, theory and ear training until 2010. She has been a featured artist with Seattle Opera Community Outreach, Orchestra Seattle, Opera North, Skagit Opera, Lyric Opera Northwest, and Classic King FM radio; she is also the winner of a Metropolitan Opera Award, winner of the Performing Arts Festival of the Eastside (piano and voice), and Gold Medalist of the Seattle Young Artist Music Festival (piano). At Northwest, Harumi has served as the vocal coach and music co-director for NWS musicals, and she co-founded the Upper School trips to Washington, D.C. and Cambodia. Since 2012, she has led delegations to the National Student Diversity Leadership Conference and People of Color Conference and worked with students, faculty, and administration to develop institutional practices toward greater diversity, equity, and inclusion. In 2015, Harumi was awarded the Mary Stewart Hall Rising Leadership Scholarship at Seattle University, where she completed her graduate degree in nonprofit leadership.
