Spanish language and culture have been a part of Lisa’s life since 1977 when she attended the CIEE Sevilla foreign exchange program through University of Washington. She is a Department of Social and Health Services (DHSH) certified medical interpreter and loves going to medical appointments to make sure Spanish-speakers fully understand their diagnoses. Lisa participated in the first international school trip to El Salvador in 1999, which helped open her eyes to social justice issues in Latin America. To date, she has participated in 25 international trips with NWS students, to El Salvador, Spain, Mexico, and Cuba. She is the original contact for what is now our fourth international partner school, Centro Docente Maria, in Sevilla, Spain.
