​Margie Combs

B.A. (English) University of Massachusetts, Amherst; M.A. (Writing) Goddard College.

Margie is an award-winning journalist and editor with 25 years of experience covering stories important to people’s lives. She began her writing life as a National Public Radio reporter in New England and education correspondent for the Boston Globe. She is a recipient of both the Associated Press Award for Arts Reporting and the United Press International Award for Best Documentary. Her early work as a journalist and syndicated feature writer heightened awareness about student learning styles, social equity in schools, and children’s emotional health. Prior to moving to the west coast, Margie worked as Director of Communications for The Cambridge School of Weston in Boston, and as Senior Writer and Manager of Public Relations for Tufts University. She is a member of the Salish Sea Writers Collective and has published several memoir pieces in literary magazines. She enjoys literary fiction, practicing yoga, listening to jazz, hiking in the Northwest woods, and visiting with her two sons, both artists, who live and work in Los Angeles.
