Randy Wanless

Randy has an undergraduate degree in Music Education from the University of Wisconsin, with a major emphasis in the saxophone and minor emphases in piano, clarinet, and composition; and a Master's in alto saxophone from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, with a minor emphasis in jazz piano. 

Randy was the founding director of the Nairobi Jazz Orchestra, which performed throughout East Africa, where he also led a jazz combo that appeared in locales such as Karen Blixen's estate and safari clubs in the Masai Mara. He also served as guest artist with the first largely-indigenous jazz band in Bolivia, appearing at the La Paz FestiJazz.

As educator, he has worked extensively in AMIS (The Association of Music in International Schools), leading jazz combos at festivals in Brussels, London, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Doha, and Geneva, and has guest conducted big band jazz in Beijing. Randy has led high school jazz band tours of Spain, Italy, and Germany; British Columbia, including the DuMaurier Jazz Festival; and Switzerland, including the Montreux Jazz Festival.
