Sandy Nelson

Visual Art Teacher

B.F.A. (Painting), Ohio State University; M.F.A. (Ceramics), Washington State University; M.A. (Language Arts Education), Ohio State University. Sandy has a background in ceramic sculpture, basketry, blacksmithing, and printmaking. She was an artist member of Sev Shoon, a printmaking studio and gallery space (now, sadly closed) in Ballard for ten years. She is currently working on hand-built ceramic sculpture and functional ware at the Kirkland Arts Center, where she is studying with Seattle master potter Regnor Reinholdsten. Sandy is also currently enrolled at Seattle Pacific University, where she is studying Reading Instruction Theory and Application, and is focusing on critical analysis of educational research structures as part of her academic program.
