Sedia Bayard

Sedia holds a bachelor’s degree in ethnic studies and multicultural literature from The Evergreen State College, a master’s in teaching (ESL) from the School for International Training, and a master’s in education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Most recently, she served as an English instructor at Tacoma Community College. Sedia speaks fluent Swahili and her intercultural experiences include time spent in Liberia, Mexico, Namibia, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, and Tunisia. In her cover letter, Sedia told us: “When my grandfather, a beloved Liberian educator, learned that I planned on becoming a teacher, he wrote me a letter in which he said, ‘Teaching is an honorable profession.’ I have always carried those words in my pocket. I am passionate about teaching and learning and in love with the processes that allow each to unfold.”
