Affording Northwest: Tuition and Financial Aid

As an independent school, The Northwest School is tuition based. We carefully calculate tuition to cover our operational costs, including teacher salaries, facilities, etc. The value of a Northwest School education is worth more than a dollar amount, and is an investment that families choose to make in their child’s educational experience. As part of our commitment to nurturing a diverse community as part of our mission, Northwest offers need based financial aid as well as support for educational costs in addition to tuition for families that need it through The Northwest School Experience Fund, to help make our educational program accessible for more families.

  • We fund 100% of determined financial need
  • 30 of 114 financial aid recipients receive 100% aid
  • Average aid award for the 2020-21 school year is $30,212 (76 percent of Upper School tuition)
  • Every family receiving financial aid has all extra fees covered at 100% by The Northwest Experience Fund
  • In 2019-20 The Northwest Experience Fund paid for over $225,000 in fees and COVID-related assistance for families receiving aid

I am absolutely delighted by financial aid assistance at Northwest. I cannot express enough how relieving it is for my boys to be supported throughout the range of experiences available at Northwest.

Financial Aid

We strive to educate a socio-economically diverse student body and are committed to funding 100% of a family’s calculated need. Approximately 22 percent of our families receive financial aid, with an average award size of $30,212.

Your family will need to be able to pay approximately $3,500 per month for 10 months to afford full tuition. If you cannot afford that amount, please consider applying for financial aid.

Visit the Apply for Financial Aid page to learn more about the application process, how financial aid is calculated, and read case studies based on families receiving aid in our community.
