Our Seniors Celebrate Graduation in Person!

Eighty-four students who make up The Northwest School’s Class of 2021 gathered on Tuesday, June 8, at The Museum of Flight and online, to celebrate their graduation. Because of limited attendance due to the pandemic, the graduation was streamed live for students and community members unable to attend.

Interim Head of School Dennis Bisgaard welcomed the students to the expansive space at The Museum of Flight. Said Dennis: “The theme of the year, a hybrid, in-person, remote graduation, a new normal.”

Iliana G., Amelia H., Elaine X., and Pelham C. delivered speeches to their classmates, echoing themes of community, resiliency, hope, and change.

“High school was not a trial run, we have not been prepping for the real world, we have been living in it,” said Iliana. “Now, we can go be the change we want to be.”

Graduation at The Northwest School provides the final opportunity for senior performances, and this year’s did not disappoint. Lucas O. dazzled with his original song “Heaven is Anywhere You Can Breathe.” Juniper C. and Claude G. excelled with their cover of Rebecca Sugar’s “Time Adventures.” The Northwest School Orchestra performed “Allegro for Hydroponic Systems,” which was adapted and arranged by Cheng Z., and Isaac L-D performed a snippet from his role in the recent Upper School Play Production of The Addams Family Musical.

Congratulations to our Class of 2021. Special thanks to Northwest School parent Matt Chadsey for the photos..
