Amy Painter

Amy holds degrees from the University of Richmond (BA) and the American University (MA). She has worked in the communications and marketing field for more than 20 years. Most recently, she served as Director of Communications and Marketing for Western Washington University’s Advancement Division. Prior to that, she worked for Virginia Tech University, and as Director of Communications for Saint James School, an independent day and boarding school in the Washington DC metro area where she led a comprehensive brand initiative. 

She spent eleven years at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in Silver Spring, MD, working as Director of Communications for an extramural research and outreach program with 34 university-based locations. She has also worked for Phillips Publishing (editor), the Accokeek Foundation (communications), the Seattle Arts Commission (communications), and Discovery Channel (freelance writer). Born and raised in Virginia, she loves living in the PNW and spends her free time hiking, walking, biking, paddle boarding, reading, and enjoying time with friends and animals.
