James Joseph

James holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Brown University and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from the University of Washington. James comes from a long line of educators and his own teaching career began over two decades ago; he is deeply entrenched in the local independent school community, having served as a board member for the Giddens School and Bishop Blanchet High School.

James arrives at Northwest after helping lead Villa Academy as its Middle School Director and Associate Head of School. He has served on NWAIS accreditation teams and has been instrumental in advancing equity in each of his school settings and roles. In his educational philosophy, James quoted Nelson Mandela’s words, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” which is directly resonant to The Northwest School mission.”
