Zach Humes

Performing Arts Teacher

B.A. (Philosophy, Interdisciplinary Studies) Miami University; M.F.A. (Theatre Arts, Design, and Technology) University of Minnesota. Zach is a theater designer and technical director hailing from Minneapolis, Minnesota, with a special affinity for original and devised pieces, world-premieres, and work from emerging playwrights. He has designed with the La Jolla Playhouse, Berkeley Repertory Theatre, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Theatre de la Jeune Lune, and numerous other small and itinerant companies across the nation. Zach has taught courses and workshops in technical theatre as an instructor and technical director at University of Minnesota, Concordia University St. Paul, University of Portland, and University of Pennsylvania. He was nominated for a Bay Area Critics Circle Award in 2008 (Sound Design, Figaro, Berkeley Repertory Theatre / Theatre de la Jeune Lune) and appeared in front of the curtain, as a stagehand, in Karen Sherman’s Soft Goods (Walker Art Center 2016, UCLA Center for the Art of Performance 2017, TBA Festival Portland 2018).
