Christopher T. F. Hanson, Ph.D.

Performing Arts Faculty

Christopher has a BA in Composition (Texas Southern University), an MA in Music (Composition, Masters of Music in Music History, Masters of Music in Music Theory), and a PhD in Educational Leadership and School Improvement (Texas State University). With over 15 years of experience as a professional musician and educator, Christopher has taught students in grades 5 through 12 in both public and private schools. Additionally, they have worked in higher education, instructing undergraduate and graduate students in music and teacher preparation programs.

They also serve in several state, national, and international organizations that support and promote the arts in education, and also currently serves as the artistic director of Rainbow City Performing Arts. Christopher's accomplishments include being a finalist for the American Prize in Orchestral Conducting, named Outstanding Teacher in the Humanities for the state of Texas, recognized as a "Music Ed Idol" by Twentieth Century Fox and the National Music Educators Association, and being awarded a Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) fellowship.
