Harumi Laduke
Humanities Teacher
B.A. (English Literature and Creative Writing, Music), Dartmouth College; Royal College of Music, London, UK; M.A. (Nonprofit Leadership), Seattle University.At Northwest, Harumi is passionate about advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion and was selected to represent the school on the planning committee for the national People of Color Conference. Previously she has served as the DEI Coordinator, 10th and 12th grade coordinator, vocal coach for NWS musicals, and co-founded Upper School trips to Cambodia and Washington, D.C. She was awarded the Mary Stewart Hall Rising Leadership Scholarship for her graduate work at Seattle University, where she researched best practices in equity and inclusion on nonprofit boards and leadership. Prior to teaching Northwest, Harumi was the Director of the Junior Division at the Seattle Conservatory of Music, where she also taught courses in music history, theory and ear training. She has been a featured artist with Seattle Opera Community Outreach, Orchestra Seattle, Opera North, Skagit Opera, Lyric Opera Northwest, and Classic King FM radio; she is also the winner of a Metropolitan Opera Award. She loves to belt the occasional note and explore wellness practices.
