Lauren Uhl

Humanities Teaching Faculty

Lauren is driven by a passion for exploring the connections between identity and place through literature, history, and geography. Her teaching draws on extensive research in Early Modern Drama, where her studies of trickster figures highlighted societal anxieties about individual agency and ambition. Inspired by these characters, Lauren encourages her students to challenge conventional boundaries, question the world around them, and discover their own place within it.

With years of experience teaching English Language Arts, History, and TEFL in public, private, and charter schools across Washington, Lauren brings a rich blend of academic expertise and international experiences to her classroom. Her time studying abroad at the University of Limerick and the University of Oxford, teaching English in Italy, and working in hostels across Ireland and Greece have shaped her belief that self-discovery is deepened through community and travel.

Lauren creates a learning environment where students are not only encouraged to envision a more equitable world but are also empowered to actively participate in shaping it. She holds degrees in English, Secondary Education, and Philosophy from Gonzaga University, an M.Ed. from The University of Portland, and an M.A. in English from The University of Victoria.
