Steven Wilbur
Assistant Upper School Director
Steven Wilbur is an educator, poet, and musician. His career as an educator started as a substitute at Northwest School, where he was drawn to Northwest’s unique blend of the arts, humanities, and sciences. He eventually joined the NWS full time as a teacher of Math and Spoken Word. He left the school in 2016 to co-found a trauma-informed school called Hope Academy for children who had lived on the streets of Beirut, Lebanon. He served as Principal there from 2016 to 2020. During this time he co-founded CodeBrave, a nonprofit that teaches coding education in communities all across Lebanon and has reached over 1,500 students. Steven returned to Northwest in 2021 and since has taught Geometry, Precalculus, and Calculus in the Upper School and serves as an Instructional Coach.
Steven holds a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from the University of North Texas and an M.Ed. in Learning Sciences from the University of Washington.
