New Modern Language Faculty — Yi Wang

Yi is passionate about making language learning engaging and relevant, helping students build meaningful connections to the world. She chose Northwest School because of its inclusive community and dedication to global citizenship. Yi is eager to join a team that values diversity and encourages innovative educational approaches, aligning perfectly with her educational philosophy.

Before joining Northwest School, Yi taught Chinese at Seattle Waldorf High School for seven years, where her students consistently earned awards in state and national competitions. Prior to that, she served as the Chinese Coordinator and advanced-level IB instructor at Eton House International School for two years. Yi also has 19 years of experience teaching Chinese in China, where she served as Deputy Principal. Throughout her career, she has been honored with accolades such as the Global Education Model Award and Outstanding Achievement in Cultural Activity Design for K-12 Chinese Classrooms.

Yi graduated from Soochow University and completed the STARTALK Teacher Program at the University of Washington Language Learning Center. She also participated in Stanford University's Continuing Studies Program on "The Socially Just World Language Classroom." Yi holds a Senior Chinese Language Teacher certification from the International Profession Certification Association (IPA).
