Robert Murphy

Robert Murphy holds a bachelor’s degree in violin performance and a master’s in violin pedagogy and performance with a music education License and Master of Music from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Robert came to us from the Seattle Waldorf School, where he has served as the string orchestra teacher for grades 4-12. Robert also has extensive experience teaching strings, digital music and middle school string orchestra in Whitefish Bay, Wis. His awards include a McNair Fellowship, a Civic Music Association Award for Youth Programming and the African-American Academic Award. 

Robert has been a string orchestra teacher for 16 years and a private violin teacher for 23 years, and he is currently the string coordinator and a violin coach for the Seattle Youth Symphony Orchestra.

Robert tells us: “Summer is a special time for me because I can celebrate my birthday basking in the sun with some strawberry shortcake! I also love having time to watch soccer, go hiking and explore the wonderful food of this region.”
