        Planned Giving

Leaving a Gift in Your Will (General Bequest) — By including a provision in your will, you can make a significant gift to The Northwest School. This contribution can take various forms, such as cash, stocks, real estate, or personal property. With different types of bequests available, you can select the option that best reflects your values and intentions.

Beneficiary Gifts (Retirement Accounts) — Designating The Northwest School as a beneficiary of your retirement accounts, including 401(k)s, 403(b)s, IRAs, Keoghs, and profit-sharing plans, is a powerful way to support our mission while enjoying substantial tax advantages.

Endowment Gifts (Financial Aid and Endowment) — Endowment gifts represent a lasting commitment to the future of The Northwest School, showcasing your belief in the enduring value of a Northwest education. These funds provide a reliable source of income, supporting essential programs and ensuring the school's mission thrives for generations to come.

Gifts of Stock (Appreciated Stock) — Contributing appreciated stocks, bonds, or mutual funds can be a tax-smart strategy. By donating these assets instead of cash, you can receive a charitable deduction based on their full market value while minimizing capital gains taxes.

Charitable IRA Rollover — If you are 70½ or older, making a direct contribution from your IRA to The Northwest School is a tax-efficient option. While you won't receive a charitable deduction for this gift, you can avoid income tax on the portion of your required minimum distribution that you donate.

Gifts of Property (Real Estate and Other Valuables) — Donating appreciated assets, such as real estate, artwork, or other valuable collections, offers significant advantages. You may be able to deduct the fair market value of these gifts from your income taxes, potentially reducing your estate taxes in the future.

For more information about planned giving, please contact our Development Office at 206-816-6200 or development@northwestschool.org.
